Your family story didn’t disappear — it’s waiting to be found
Professional Jewish genealogy research in Eastern Europe
I’m Yarik Herman, a Jewish genealogist from Ukraine.
For more than five years I’ve been researching family histories across Eastern Europe — reconstructing families, locating relatives, and working with archival records.
Alongside research, I give educational lectures on genealogy, organize heritage trips to ancestral towns, and study the preservation of Jewish cemeteries.
You share what you know — I’ll uncover the story of your family.
What you receive
Family reconstruction
Rebuilding your family across generations: restoring names, identifying relatives, connecting branches, and bringing back the memory of generations before you, including those lost in the Holocaust.
Archival and citizenship documents
Locating and obtaining original archival records about your ancestors, including documents suitable for citizenship applications when required.
Ancestral towns research
Research of the towns and communities your family belonged to, together with the historical background that explains how they lived and what surrounded their lives.
Heritage travel preparation
Visit places already meaningful to you. If you wish, I will plan your trip — itinerary, guides, and a personal route through locations connected to your family history.
What my clients are saying

“Yarik has been an incredible resource for me in studying my roots in Eastern Europe. He has worked hard and with great creativity to uncover facts and stories hidden in archives, and in newspapers and books across the world. He has helped me weave together the narratives of a heritage buried by wars and migrations and the wish of my ancestors to move on. Beyond his immense research skills, Yarik is also a truly delightful person.”

“Yarik connected us to our great-grandparents hometowns and family trees in Volyn and Galitzia and was our tour guide and translator in five cities and towns. He connected us to local museums and Jewish heritage experts who accompanied us to places of historical significance. He is an expert on European Jewish burial and took us to three of the destroyed Jewish cemeteries that contain our ancestors remains. This was the trip of a lifetime and it would have been impossible to plan, research and navigate without him”

“Yarik took the fragments we had, one town name and a few family stories and turned them into a clear, documented family structure. The updates were transparent, and each finding came with evidence. After our final call, I finally understood where my ancestors came from and what was their life and work like. I’d recommend starting with the free consultation — it clarifies what’s possible very quickly.”
